DCHC is managed by voluntary Board members and small, but growing, staff team with a united goal of being the voice of care homes within the county of Devon. This is a collaborative process, and we want everyone to an opportunity to participate including the option of becoming a Board member.
The Board attempts to have representatives from different sectors within Adult Social Care and with different expertise and knowledge. The position is for 3 years and receives no compensation. Currently, there are weekly meetings online, but as the organisation develops this may reduce. Board members participate in other groups and workshops based on their own interests and skills. It provides an opportunity for you to gain knowledge and new skills as well as the organization benefiting from your volunteering.
DCHC is a membership owned organization that reinvests any profits back into the services it offers the care homes of Devon, Plymouth, and Torbay. We shall be having our first Annual General Meeting in February 2022. The current Board members were the founding members that created the company. They will all stand down enabling the membership to vote for the Board for the coming year. In November we will be sending all members a notice with the details of the process, timelines, and a self-nomination form. Only one candidate per care setting can apply and needs authorization from their company to do so.
The candidate and their nomination statements will be distributed the last week of December. The election will open two weeks prior to the AGM and will close two days prior to the meeting. It is one vote per care home and each care home will be asked who their voting representative is. The results are announced at the meeting.
We strongly encourage all to consider running.
