Celebrating Carers at Windsor Castle

Andy Cowling of The Old Rectory, Exeter, and Penny Truswell of Sefton Hall, Dawlish, were proudly honoured with an invitation to Windsor Castle, where they met Their Majesties the King and Queen, alongside other members of the Royal Family and distinguished guests. The event, attended by around 400 people in February, celebrated and acknowledged the enormous contribution of social care personnel.
Andy joined Southern Healthcare in 2011, and Penny in 2010. Andy is a Housekeeper, and an effervescent, larger than life presence to residents, the team and the Home.
Penny is a Dementia Team Leader who instinctively, passionately and exceptionally, supports residents with complex needs, helping them feel loved, contented and secure.
These two individuals are not only remarkable in their professional dedication, but also deeply appreciative, selfless and humble.
They represent the best of the care sector - the 1.6m people who dedicate themsrlves, with humility and compassion, to enhancing the quality of life of those who live in, work in or visit loved ones in care settings.
