Lavender Square Nursing Home
On Rowcroft’s 22-acre estate known as Ella’s Gardens, we have exciting plans to enhance and extend our care through a world class nursing home – called Lavender Square - that will care for people with dementia and other complex needs. As part of this development, Rowcroft has been awarded an Amazon Web Services IMAGINE Grant to design and develop two artificial intelligence (AI) concepts that aim to enhance the quality of life for people living at Lavender Square.
Please can you spare an hour a month?
We’re looking for people with dementia or other chronic diseases, and their carers, to be involved in the development of this new technology. Whether you’re a person living with dementia or a family member or carer, we’d love to hear from you if you could spare an hour a month to be part of this pioneering 12-month project. You are welcome to join us for as little or as long as you wish.
Please phone or email Dr Gill Horne to register your interest:

The Project Team
The AI concepts will be developed by the project team consisting of Dr Gill Horne, a nurse who is clinically leading the project, AI developers from a Cornwall-based AI development company (Hi9) and Rowcroft’s Chief Information Officer. We also have an expert advisory group, which includes AWS, EDGE IMPULSE, University of Plymouth, a doctor with expertise in digital, a local care home representative, a community dietician and nurses from Belvedere Ward, Exeter.
Please get involved – your support will make a genuine difference for the community of South Devon
Expert care at the core
The development of the Lavender Square Nursing Home has compassionate care at its heart. All profits from Lavender Square will go to support Rowcroft Hospice in delivering expert palliative and end-of-life care to local people with life-limiting illnesses across South Devon.
