Face to Face Oral Health Improvement Training

We are the NHS Oral Health Improvement team and we are a small team of community educators based in the Dental Access Centre, Heavitree Hospital. Together we are commissioned by Devon County Council and the NHS to get into contact with care homes, residential homes, and places that host people in vulnerable positions around the EX postcode in Devon. Our aim is to provide the staff with the skills to maintain good oral health of the people that they care for, and to do this we have formulated a presentation that outlines (but is not limited to) the following information:

  • The consequences of poor oral health
  • Diet and its impact on the teeth and gums
  • Causes, symptoms and how to prevent tooth decay
  • Techniques and support for helping people of all abilities to maintain good oral hygiene.

We can either come to your setting and deliver the presentation in person (face to face) or we can set up a virtual session via Microsoft Teams.

Each session lasts 2 hours (including a short comfort break) and is completely free of charge. Each attendee will receive a CPD certificate on completion.

We want to give the participants the most positive experience that we can, so if you or a member of your team requires specific learning support, or feel that you may find it difficult to manage the information and resources provided then please do not hesitate to get in touch and we will endeavour to assist you the best way that we can.

Due to the popularity of this training we do have a minimum requirement of 5 attendees per session – if you are still interested in receiving training but are low on numbers get in contact and we can look at combining settings.
