Continence & Catheter Care – e-learning

This elearning is aimed at nursing and health care assistants across all care settings.  It will improve knowledge and awareness of all aspects of continence and catheter care.

Dementia Care Pop Up Module virtual

This dementia awareness session provides an overview of some of the different types of dementia and the impact and effects these can have both on the brain and the person themselves.

It will also explore the issue of ‘sundowing’ - what this means and how it can be supported using a person-centred approach

Continence Pad Use Pop Up Module - virtual – new dates

Continence Pad Use Pop Up is an hour-long session which explains how continence pads work and the range of pads available, how to use the pads correctly, how to fit them properly, do’s and don’ts and troubleshooting frequent problems with pads.

It is trained by Hollie Campbell, Assistant Practitioner with the Bowel and Bladder Care Service.

Urinary Continence Pop Up Module – virtual – new dates

This session includes an overview of the male and female urinary tract.

  • The different types of incontinence - and strategies to consider with your resident when responding to these.
  • Various types of incontinence products, including urinary sheaths.
  • How to carry out personal and catheter care, the risks of infection associated with catheters and your role if one of your residents is undergoing a Trail Without Catheter (TWOC).

Bowel Care Pop Up Module – virtual – new dates

This session includes an exploration of the anatomy of the bowel and how it works, common diseases of the bowel, common causes of constipation and diarrhoea, medication available for bowel conditions and alternative treatments available.
