Hive Decommissioning

We are really proud of the support our learning management system, The Hive, provides to support organisations and colleagues across our health and care system. We are now making some important changes to how we support people to access online learning and development services. 

As part of changes taking place across Devon’s NHS, a new learning platform, called EVA Learn, will launch this spring. NHS providers will move away from their own organisation’s online learning systems and onto EVA Learn as part of wider work to support digital integration, improved data governance and standardisation across Devon’s NHS. 

The Hive will be permanently switched off on 18th May 2026 and all Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust staff will access its online learning through EVA Learn. As part of the move, all non-NHS organisations will no longer be able to book, access digital training and retrieve learning records through the Hive from 18th May. This also includes e‑Learning for Healthcare (e‑LfH). 

Although the Hive will close, you will still be able to access statutory and mandatory e‑learning through the NHS Learning Hub and e‑Learning for Healthcare (e‑LfH) national platforms. These platforms contain nationally approved content which is available to care providers.  

Non-NHS organisations will be offered the opportunity to join EVA Learn later this year to access its online training. This is currently being developed but we hope to be able to offer this from September 2026, subject to governance approval. Once approved, you will be able to arrange a contract directly with the One Devon People Digital team, which is hosted by Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, to meet your organisation’s learning and training needs. We will share more details about this service, pricing and legal requirements during the summer. 

We understand this is a significant change and recognise that you have relied on The Hive for your training and compliance management, and as a long-standing partner we will support you to make this change as easy as possible. Colleagues from our education team will be available to discuss this change and to offer support to ensure your records and files are downloaded by 18th May. 

Please ensure that any certificates you may require for your internal use are downloaded. We will provide a report of your organisations training data following the decommission on 18th May. This will be provided in an excel format.
