Joining Generations with Imagination: An opportunity to pioneer intergenerational classes in the Tiverton area

I'm excited to tell you about a new and very successful intergenerational project called ‘Joining Generations with Imagination’. This project has been launched and piloted in Debutots, Worcestershire, and I'm thrilled to now be able to offer it in Taunton and TIverton.

It's an excellent opportunity for local pre-school children to visit residential care homes for a Debutots interactive storytelling and dramatic play session.

There's been so much publicity and research recently regarding the amazing benefits experienced by both generations when they're given the opportunity to join together for activities, friendship and fun:

A four-year-old is unhindered by prejudice, so an 80-year age gap is no barrier to friendship.’ The Independent December 2017

I'm passionate about the positive impact that intergenerational activities can have and want to ensure that as many children and residents experience them. I'm currently getting in touch with local nurseries who are extremely interested in bringing their children to a residential care home for regular story sessions and I'm looking for local homes to partner them with.

I'm aware that many homes already invite local children in for occasions such as Christmas. However, with regular visits, relationships blossom, interactions grow and amazing friendships develop over time.

If you are based in or close to the Tiverton area and would like to get involved, please do get in contact via email at candice@debutots.co.uk.
