The HIVE is FREE to all DCHC members.

Mental Capacity Act - Level 2 for Care Organisations – eLearning

The Mental Capacity Act (MCA) is a law about supporting and protecting vulnerable people who are unable to make their own decisions.

This online course has broken this complex subject into 8 short videos based on 'what do I need to know about the Mental Capacity Act to do my job' plus 8 knowledge checks to reinforce these 8 valuable points.

Resuscitation - Level 1 for All – eLearning

This e-learning session meets the statutory and mandatory training requirements and learning outcomes for Resuscitation Level 1 in the UK Core Skills Training Framework (UK CSTF).

  • Recognise when someone’s heart has stopped (cardiac arrest)
  • Explain the best way of getting immediate help
  • Describe how to do cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR): chest compressions and rescue breaths
  • Explain what to do if an adult is choking.

Hydration Training for All – Virtual Session

Welcome to the Hydration training to help improve hydration in residential care and nursing homes.

Evidenced based recommendations such as implementing seven structured drinks rounds daily within care and nursing homes, improves hydration levels and has been shown to reduce urinary tract infections, falls and hospital admissions.

This course aims to enhance your knowledge and awareness of the causes and consequences of dehydration, alongside the benefits of good hydration. 

You will also explore how structured drinks rounds make a difference and discover practical ways to enhance your current hydration practices, in the benefit of those in your care.
