Cyber Security Awareness Month
Every October, we recognize Cyber Security Awareness Month, a global effort to raise awareness about the importance of digital security. As technology continues to evolve, so do cyber threats. This month serves as a timely reminder to stay vigilant and proactive in protecting our personal and organizational data.
There are four key behaviours that everyone can adopt to stay safe online:
- Use strong passwords
Create unique, complex passwords for each account. Password managers can help store and generate them securely. - Enable MFA (Multi-Factor Authetication)
MFA adds an extra layer of protection, even if your password is compromised. It is one of the most effective tools to help block unauthorized access. - Recognise and report phishing
Always be cautious of unexpected emails, links, or attachments. When in doubt, don’t click but do report it. Phishing emails often imitate vendors, patients, or internal messages. - Update software regulalry
Keeping apps and devices updated ensures you have the latest secuirty to block known vulnerabilities.
October is the perfect time to complete your Data Secuirty and Protection Toolkit. The DSPT will help identify gaps in your data security practices before they become risks and it plays a fundamental part in protecting patient data, service users, and your organisation.
