The MEND Study

At the University of Leeds, we are undertaking research to understand how to attract, recruit and retain more male care workers in care homes and home care: The MEND Study.
The MEND Study involves analysing national information about social care staff (and focusing on male staff), reviewing previous research evidence to find out how other sectors (e.g. nursing) are increasing the number of male workers, interviewing male care workers (including those who are leaving/have left), and group meetings with social care stakeholders to co-produce strategies aimed at increasing the number and diversity of men working in social care.
We are now interviewing male care workers, and the purpose is to hear about what helps to attract, recruit, and retain care workers. All participants will receive a £25 shopping voucher for taking part.
If you’re interested in taking part or have any questions, please contact Emma McLorie, Researcher, via e-mail at e.v.mclorie@leeds.ac.uk or by telephone (+44 113 343 7552). Getting in touch does not mean a commitment to taking part.
