Arti Sharma is an NMC-registered nurse currently working at Heanton Nursing Home in North Devon. With over 14 years of clinical experience, she is passionate about delivering compassionate, person-centred care that promotes dignity, independence and quality of life.

This session will explore the impact of osteoarthritis and osteoporosis on older adults living in care settings.

Topics will include:

• Understanding osteoarthritis and osteoporosis: causes, signs, and symptoms
• The impact of these conditions on mobility, independence and quality of life
• Falls prevention and reducing fracture risk in older adults with frailty and bone health conditions
• Supporting safe mobility while promoting independence in daily activities
• The role of nutrition, exercise and early intervention in maintaining bone and joint health
• The role of nurses and care team members in delivering holistic, person-centred care

The session will focus on practical, care home-based approaches to supporting family members living with long-term musculoskeletal conditions. It will provide team members with practical knowledge and strategies to promote safety, dignity, independence and quality of life through high-quality, person-centred care.
